MARMELODIAN: Music
Not Everybody Has Enough (Cold and Rough)
This is the second song in my Homeless Trilogy. The first was "Vagrancy's A Crime," about the virtual criminalization of poverty in many municipalities.
"As you do unto the least of my brothers, so you do unto me." That is my favorite thing that Jesus Christ said. And St. Paul said that without love, piety and faith are of little import.
Not Everybody Has Enough (Cold and Rough)
The days are short, the nights are cold
He's got a box that he calls home
Hot coffee in a paper cup
He gives her half to warm her up
Not everybody has enough
Sometimes the streets feel cold and rough
She's got a pack of cigarettes
He's got a light and she's his guest
She takes the crate, he sits on the ground
Alone they're lost, together found
Not everybody has enough
Sometimes the streets are cold and rough
Sometimes the streets are cold and rough
When friends are scarce and so is love
But she's an angel in disguise
And he's a boy who really tried
Just never seemed to get things right
Repeat first stanza
Not everybody has enough
Sometimes the streets feel cold and rough
